Slavens is known for creating the artism known as Picturemosaicism or Picturemosaics, the greatest and most popular art ism of it's time. Slavens is known for creating the concept method to have a Picturemosaic made by a computer software program. The 1995 computer program method was to have the Picturemosaics made by having a computer program to help speed up the process by looking for the right pictures to match the color, contrast and shape as the picture used to create the mosaic. A whole new artism of its time, Picturemosaics theme which is based on famous people and images, starting with the World and all the way to images of the World known today.

The Princess Diana Picturemosaic is Created from picture images of photographs of flowers. Created as a gift to Princess Diana was created to raise funding for her charity foundations. Princess Diana died in a car crash August 31, 1997 during the making of this Picturemosaic. The Picturemosaic and all of the art and artism known today is now dedicated in the memory of Princess Diana, just as Slavens Picturemosaic of Andy Warhol's Marilyn Monroe was created and dedicated in the memory of also made of flowers created at the same time together.

Picturemosiaics were produced by using thousands of photographs, over two decades and over one hundred thousand hours to one hundred and twenty hours a week involved in the photographic mosaic pictures images for the making of the first 29 known Picturemosaics, and cost as much as a average home, taking every cent made by the artist.

Picturemosaics, Pictures within a Picture.

Created mosaic artism known as Picturemosaicism and Picturemosaics was created by artist Ian Leo Slavens. Picturemosaics first methods, where created by printing thousands of photographs in a mosaic which then is overlaid by a picture and faded into the mosaic of photographs. Picturemosaics where inspired by working with circles and squares that was part of a painting project, working with squares, led to working with photographic pictures images. First concept methods dates back to 1988 and became Picturemosaicism, the greatest artism of it's time. First made by hand by cutting and pasting images by the artist. First methods where discarded due to a new printing technique, the old printing method was to expensive and very time consuming, due to a color Separation for the printing for each print. This method was replaced by 1995, due to a new printing method made by a computer without having the color Separation done at all which is now known as today as the (Ink-Jet Printer).

Then in 1995 Slavens created the method to have a Picturemosaic made by a computer software program. The computer software program method was to have the Picturemosaics made by having a computer program to help speed up the process, by looking for the right pictures to match the color, contrast and shape as the picture used to create the mosaic of images. The concept of the computer software program method and Picturemosaic art was then brought to a family member involved in ownership of a book publishing business (Frank Leo Slavens) was involved with working with a known cartoonist's from the 1980's ( Gary Larson ), from The Seattle Times Newspaper known as The Far Side - Farwork, Inc. book publisher known at the time Universal Press Syndicate. Frank Leo Slavens was involved in book publishing for a book titled Breeding - Longevity and Inventory (years from 1980s to 1990s) by Frank Leo Slavens of Woodland Park Zoological gardens Seattle, Washington. The concept of the computer software program method was then brought to another family member, (Kenneth Slavens) who worked with computer programing for a well known computer company and was known for creating a well known computer software program that is still being used today. The concept for the computer software program method said it would be very complex and would need someone from MIT to be further developed, and the collection of Picturemosaic art masterpieces are put in a collection just under 30, for a book to be published, based on a size and paper thickness as well as the same number of prints as a book known as, M.C.Escher 29 Master Prints.

Documentation of statement made by Slavens about the Picturemosaic art and detailed documentation on all the Picturemosaic masterpieces were sent to a book publishing business connected to the known cartoonist's. The work was said to be turned down at the time due to a black and white printing that was only used at the time. The documentation of statement made by Slavens was about the theme, which is based on famous people and images of the World and The United States of America, starting with the first Picturemosaic in the book to name a few. The World Picturemosaic to The Fish Picturemosaic, Amphibian Picturemosaic, Bird Picturemosaic, Reptile Picturemosaic, Mammal Picturemosaic as well as Adam and Eve Picturemosaic to Jesus Christ Picturemosaic, Abraham Lincoln Picturemosaic created from Civil war photographs, The One Dollar Bill Picturemosaic, One Hundred Bill Picturemosaic and Thousand Dollar Bill Picturemosaic, created from mosaic images of currency to a Life Magazine Picturemosaic cover, created from mosaic images of covers of Life Magazine, as well as the Picturemosaics Slavens began creating out of photographic pictures images of flowers. One Picturemosaic created for Princess Diana as a gift to her, was created to raise funding for charity foundations for Princess Diana and another known as Picturemosaic of Andy Warhol's Marilyn Monroe created and dedicated in the memory of also made of flowers. Slavens at that time had stated to publishers that Picturemosaics will be known as the greatest, most popular art work of it's time, and that Andy Warhol's Marilyn Monroe Picturemosaic would be the most popular of all the 29 Picturemosaics unless Princess Diana suddenly died, which was stated it would be unlikely due to her health, age and unlikely if she suddenly died in a plane, car crash or something. Then within months, Princess Diana died in a car crash in Paris France August 31, 1997. The Princess Diana Picturemosaic and all of the art and artism known today as Picturemosaicism is now dedicated in the memory of Princess Diana.
